Tony Romo never shut up; NFL analyst makes THIRD marriage blunder as he refers to Jason Kelce as Taylor Swift’s ‘brother-in-law’ during Chiefs win over Bills
After referring to her as the Kansas City Chiefs star’s ‘wife’ twice this season, it seems Tony Romo is still struggling to get to grips with the fact Taylor Swift has not yet married Travis Kelce.
Swift was in attendance for her 11th Chiefs game of the season in Buffalo on Sunday night, when Kelce and Kansas City beat the Bills 27-24 to keep the defense of their Super Bowl crown alive.
Travis’ brother Jason stole the show up in the stands after whipping off his shirt to celebrate his first touchdown on the night, having met Taylor for the first time in their suite at Highmark Stadium
and once he had retaken his place after briefly hopping down to join fans in the stands, Jason was captured by NFL cameras sitting behind Swift and her fellow Chiefs WAG Brittany Mahomes.
As Swift and Mahomes laughed and joked together, Kelce could be seen chuckling away in the background after cameras had panned to the group again – and it was at this point when Romo referred to him as the pop superstar’s ‘brother-in-law’.
CBS Sports’ on-air analyst jokingly told Swift during the cutaway: ‘There’s your brother-in-law, right behind you!’
Romo, the former quarterback who spent 14 years with the Dallas Cowboys, has now suggested Swift and Kelce are husband and wife on three separate occasions this season, after referring to the former as a ‘wife’ during two previous Chiefs games.
He first did so during Kansas City’s last outing against Buffalo in December, which ended in a 20-17 win for the Bills, he could be heard saying while broadcasting to millions across the world: ‘Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift, in the audience.’
And during their Christmas Day loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Romo said over a clip of Swift celebrating a Kelce catch before correcting himself: ‘And his wife loves it, I mean, girlfriend.’
His partner, Jim Nantz, joked that he has ‘been down that road with that before’ in a throwback to when Romo was dating pop star Jessica Simpson during his playing days.
Despite reports previously suggesting a proposal may be on the cards this year, Kelce and Swift are not yet engaged after meeting each other as recently as last summer.
On Sunday night the singer and songwriter met Travis’ brother Jason and his wife Kylie for the first time, after it was claimed that they have an ‘awkward relationship’.
With his Philadelphia Eagles out of the playoffs, Jason and wife Kylie headed to Buffalo to cheer Travis on in his own game. He was filmed wearing a red t-shirt saying ‘Big Yeti’ and enjoying a beer in the moments before the game began.
It is the first time they have been pictured with Swift since her and Travis went public with their relationship in late September, when she headed to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City to cheer the Chiefs on against the Bears.
Before the game, Jason was also seen downing beer among the fans tailgating at Highmark Stadium before kickoff – with his New Heights podcast account sharing the clip and calling him ‘man of the people’.
