Patrick Mahomes mom chimes in with her own critique of officiating in chiefs loss

Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, aren’t the only members of the family sounding off on the officiating in Sunday’s Chiefs loss.

In a post shared Monday on X, Randi Mahomes — the mother of Kansas City’s star quarterback — responded to a video from the Week 14 matchup against Buffalo, which featured Mahomes appearing to have his helmet ripped off by Bills defenders in the 20-17 defeat.

“HOW IN THE HELL: Was a penalty not called on the #Bills defenders who RIPPED Patrick Mahomes helmet off his head,” the X account @_MLFootball posted, to which Randi replied, “No comment..”

Randi, who is also a mom to daughter Mia and son Jackson, has supported the Chiefs at several games this season and has mingled with the team’s superstar fan, Taylor Swift.

There wasn’t much cheering from Chiefs Kingdom on Sunday when a critical play was called back late in the second half.

Down by three in the fourth quarter, Mahomes initially connected on a pass to tight end Travis Kelce, who then lateraled to wide receiver Kadarius Toney to seemingly put the Chiefs on top.

Toney was flagged for lining up offsides, negating the play.

Mahomes was then seen slamming his helmet in frustration on the sidelines with Chiefs players holding him back from the referees.

The two-time Super Bowl champ later torched the officiating in his postgame press conference

“It’s tough to swallow,” Mahomes said. “Not only from me, and football in general, to take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis to make a play like that, you want to see the guys on the field decide the game. They’re human. They make mistakes. But every week, we’re talking about something… It’s the call. Just in that moment. Not for myself. To have a flag change the outcome of the game. I’ve never had offensive offsides called.”

As for wife Brittany, whom the quarterback wed in March 2022, she posted a video of a referee on her Instagram Story with the caption, “MVP.”
