King Charles and Queen Camilla have welcomed in 2024 by surprising fans with a new behind-the-scenes video.

Shared on their official social media accounts, the video shows the couple’s highlights from the last 12 months – including footage from the King’s “Carriage Cam”.

In the first clip, the King is seen talking to his wife in the carriage as the pair made their way to the State Opening of Parliament back in November.

The royal couple are seen waving to crowds as they headed down The Mall in the carriage after it left Buckingham Palace.

The footage shown is at the heart of the monarch’s first tweet of 2024, one that reviews his achievements and duties in the UK and Commonwealth in 2023.

As well as the King and Queen, the video also includes clips of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Despite attending his father’s Coronation back in May, Prince Harry is seemingly missing from the video – as is Prince Andrew.

The video also includes a few well-known faces in the form of Rishi Sunak, Gareth Southgate and many other political figures.

One standout clip from the video is from King Charles’ successful trip to Kenya last year.

Sharing the video, the King’s X account – formerly known as Twitter – wrote: “Thank you for all the warm welcomes up and down the country, and around the world, in 2023. Wishing everyone a very happy 2024.”

The video also includes clips and images from the King and Queen’s Coronation in May 2023.

Other royals such as Princess Anne – who is often deemed the hardest-working royal – and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are also featured in the new video.

On December 31, the King and Queen appeared delighted as they attended their final engagement of 2023.

The pair spent the festive period at Sandringham estate. Other royals joined the couple, including Prince Andrew who joined their walk to St Mary Magdalene’s Church on Christmas Day.

On New Years Eve, the couple were greeted by the Bishop of Norwich, the Right Reverend Graham User and Reverend Canon Dr Paul Rhys Williams.
