Ukraine Launches Massive Drone Assault on Moscow: 296 UAVs Target Russian Capital

In a major escalation of the ongoing war, Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack on Moscow, deploying a staggering 296 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The strike is considered one of the largest drone offensives against Russian territory since the conflict began.

According to Russian defense officials, all 296 drones were intercepted by air defense systems before reaching their targets. Despite these claims, significant disruptions were reported, particularly in the air travel sector. Operations at Moscow’s Vnukovo and Zhukovsky airports were temporarily suspended as a precaution during the attack.

The Ukrainian drone assault focused on strategic infrastructure in and around Moscow. Among the key sites reportedly targeted were the Mikron microchip plant in Zelenograd and the Kronstadt UAV factory in Dubna. Although no official damage was reported, the psychological and operational impact of the attack was considerable.

This offensive appears to be a retaliatory response to Russia’s recent aerial campaign against Ukraine. Just days prior, Russia launched its largest coordinated drone and missile attack on Ukraine, involving 367 projectiles that caused at least 12 deaths and numerous injuries across multiple cities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while ramping up military operations, has also expressed willingness to engage in peace talks. He proposed a high-level summit involving U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in an attempt to find a path toward de-escalation.

As hostilities between the two countries intensify, the international community remains on edge. With both sides showing little sign of backing down, attention now turns to whether diplomacy can gain traction before further large-scale offensives escalate the conflict even further.
