Trump Slams ’60 Minutes’ Over Latest Episode & Says CBS ‘Should Lose Their License’

In a fiery escalation of his long-running feud with mainstream media, former President Donald Trump has launched an all-out attack on CBS, accusing the network’s flagship program 60 Minutes of spreading disinformation and calling for its broadcasting license to be revoked.

The controversy centers around a 60 Minutes interview aired during the 2024 presidential election season, featuring then-Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump claims the interview was deceptively edited to portray Harris more favorably, particularly in discussions surrounding Middle East policy—a hot-button issue that may have influenced undecided voters.

In response, Trump filed a staggering $20 billion lawsuit against CBS News and its parent company, Paramount Global, alleging defamation, manipulation, and voter interference. The lawsuit, filed in late 2024, argues that the editing was not only biased but intentionally misleading.

“CBS should lose their license,” Trump declared recently on Truth Social, doubling down on his accusations. “60 Minutes is no longer journalism—it’s a propaganda machine.” He has since called on the FCC to take action, demanding hefty fines and an investigation into what he describes as a “pattern of partisan interference in American elections.”

The situation has now reached a boiling point, with Paramount agreeing to enter mediation with Trump’s legal team. The stakes are high—not only for CBS, but for Paramount, which is also in the midst of a proposed $8 billion merger with Skydance Media. Legal experts suggest that Trump’s lawsuit, if it proceeds to trial, could impact that deal and possibly set a precedent for future media litigation.

Meanwhile, former FCC officials and First Amendment advocates are sounding alarms. Some view Trump’s demands as a dangerous threat to press freedom, warning that government pressure on media outlets—even through legal means—could set a troubling precedent.

But Trump’s supporters see it differently. To them, this isn’t about censorship—it’s about accountability. As Trump continues to battle the media giants he’s long accused of bias, the outcome of this case could shape not only the future of political journalism but also how far a former (and possibly future) president can go in challenging the media establishment.
