CELEBRITY
This Is Why We Probably Won’t See Travis Kelce With Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes
He’ll miss the milestone event despite being in Los Angeles on the same day
Taylor Swift will have a lot to celebrate the night of the 81st Golden Globe Awards—which is this Sunday, January 7—but her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, will likely be missing in action.
Both the pop star and the NFL player will be in Los Angeles the night of the ceremony, but Kelce will probably be absent from the red carpet, due to his football obligations.
He and the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to play the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Since the game begins at 1:25 p.m. Pacific, we can expect Kelce won’t make it to the Globes, which start at 5:00 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. (That L.A. traffic is no joke.)
This year, Swift earned a Golden Globe nomination in new category Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, for her record-breaking concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. The other films nominated in the category are The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, John Wick: Chapter 4, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. If Swift wins, the award will be her first-ever Golden Globe.
She has been nominated on four previous occasions, each time for Best Original Song in a motion picture. Most recently, her track “Carolina,” a folk song written for Where the Crawdads Sing, put her in the running last year. That Golden Globe, however, went to “Naatu Naatu,” written by M. M. Keeravani and Chandrabose, from RRR.
