Simone Biles Breaks Silence On Packers Jacket Controversy

Simone Biles is setting the record straight with Chicago Bears fans after getting heat for sporting a Green Bay Packers jacket in support of her husband, Jonathan Owens.

Jonathan Owens was with the Packers for the 2023 season before hitting free agency and snagging a two-year deal with the Bears for the upcoming season. And yes, the Bears and Packers are fierce rivals.

Following the backlash from Bears fans, 11-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles has promised to switch things up and rock some orange and navy for the season.Biles turned heads at a preseason game wearing a jacket plastered with black-and-white pics of her hubby, Owens, from his Packers days — complete with a green Packers logo on the shoulder.

It wasn’t long before fans took to social media to call her out, even though Biles had just returned home from snagging three gold medals at the Paris Olympics a few days earlier.

“It’s ridiculously unaware of your surroundings and insulting to her husband,” one NFL fan said, per Page Six.

“With all due respect, Simone Biles gotta throw that jacket in the trash ASAP. How did she get in with that?” another asked.”Yes, I have plenty [of Bears gear] now,” she told TMZ with a laugh. “So, don’t you worry, guys!”

Biles and Owens first met in 2019 through mutual connections and later got engaged in February 2023. They have supported each other’s careers, with Owens often attending Biles’ gymnastics events and the Olympics, and Biles supporting Owens in his football career.”It’s just amazing to see her go out there time and time again and just how consistent she can be and she just continues to do it, man,” he told People Magazine. “I’m just so proud sitting there in the stands like, man, this is my wife — the best ever and that’s really all I could think about… just how proud and how happy I was for her just because of how much she puts into it.”He added, “She’s doing the same with me. She’ll be telling me, ‘Don’t be a baby, you’re all right.’ We’re both super competitive. When I see her getting up and going to practice every morning, it motivates me even more. It’s a great feeling when the person you’re in a relationship with understands what you’re going through.”When discussing the wedding planning, the four-time Olympic gold medalist told Vogue, “The planning process [for the larger celebration in Cabo] was so much fun in the beginning and then it started getting really stressful. So I definitely recommend a wedding planner. Carena Trampe of Amy Abbott Events kept me sane the entire time.”

When it came to picking out her wedding dress, Biles admitted, “I was nervous about having a ball gown because I’m so petite—but it works perfect. The leg slit was very crucial. It was to add, in my head, more length to my body. I think this is exactly how brides are supposed to feel: luxurious, beautiful, kind of on top of the world.”

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens first crossed paths on the dating app Raya in 2020, with Biles making the initial move by sliding into his DMs.
