Patrick Mahomes is happy about Travis Kelce’s new contract.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback congratulated Kelce on the new deal that he received on Monday in a post on X.
om Pelissero of NFL Network reported Kelce will earn $34.25 million over the course of the two year deal.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed that the extension will make Kelce the league’s “highest-paid” tight end.
The two stars have been teammates since 2017, when Mahomes was selected by Kansas City with the No. 10 overall pick in the draft.
Kelce was previously playing on a four-year, $57.25 million extension that he signed in Aug. 2020. The deal represented the fourth-highest tight end contract in terms of average annual value (per OverTheCap.com).
Mahomes and Kelce have flourished as a pair, developing into one of the NFL’s premier duos. They’ve combined to win three Super Bowls together, establishing the Chiefs as a modern dynasty after hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Kelce has earned nine consecutive Pro Bowl nods, while Mahomes has two regular-season MVP awards and three Super Bowl MVPs under his belt.
The two have grown close off the field as well, with the quarterback calling Kelce his “brother” in a Nov. 2023 interview with ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.
“I talk about his family and my family have almost become one family because of the relationship that we have and how we’ve kind of [become these] brothers on the football field but off the football field as well,” Mahomes said (2:12 mark).
While Kelce’s production declined a bit in 2023, the 34-year-old still hauled in 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns. He stepped up in the playoffs as well, recording 355 yards while finding the end zone three times in four postseason appearances.
Mahomes and Kelce will now look to help Kansas City become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls with the star tight end locked in for two more years.
