News world:Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce movie flops in the face of criticism: ‘If you’re not a Chiefs fan…’
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s real-life romance served as inspiration for a Hallmark movie, and the reviews are finally in.
“Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” debuted to huge numbers as 2.88 million people tuned in to watch the 90-minute flick.
That number made it the most-watched show on cable last Saturday, along with the second most-watched show on television behind the Texas-Texas A&M game on ABC which attracted 9.46 million viewers.
While the move is inspired by Taylor and Travis’ romance there are some noticeable differences, as the main characters are neither a football player or musician.
Instead, the movie focuses on Chiefs superfan Alana, played by Hunter King, and the franchise’s Director of Fan Engagement, Derrick, played by Tyler Hynes.
Although the ratings were strong, reviews for the film have been mixed.
“I thought this was a cute movie…,” wrote an IMDB user who gave the film a 7/10. “This movie was a nice departure from the usual ‘high powered executive woman comes to a small town to fix something and falls for a small town guy’.”
Another user gave it 9/10: “TOO much Chiefs. I found the movie fun and well done. But I am a romantic.”
However one user gave it a low 4/10, stating: “Sorry, this was a dud. I wish I could just stop there, but alas, I must elaborate.
