Nikki Garcia still hasn’t come to terms with how her marriage to Artem Chigvintsev played out. The estranged couple was basking in their fairytale love until it came crashing down last month. Chigvintsev was arrested for inflicting corporal injury to a spouse, resulting in a felony domestic violence charge. Following the incident, Garcia filed for divorce, hoping to end things without further drama. However, the divorce process has only shown her a darker side of her estranged husband.

In her divorce filing, the former WWE star cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. She requested legal and physical custody of their son Matteo while asking the judge to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to either party. However, despite playing fair, she was shocked to see Chigvintsev’s response. In his filing, the DWTS star asked for joint legal and physical custody of Matteo while requesting spousal support. According to sources, this has made Garcia “furious.” The insider told Life&Style:

However, the Total Bellas star is not going down without a fight. She is hopeful the justice system will do what is necessary before it gets to that. “She hopes a judge if it actually comes to that, sees right through his disgusting and exploitative cash grab,” the source explained. Garcia believes that Chigvintsev’s return to Dancing with the Stars wouldn’t have stopped him from seeking spousal support.

On August 29, Chigvintsev was booked into Napa County Jail. A 911 call he made during the assault incident revealed that he called for medical assistance. The Russian native, however, called it off, telling the dispatcher his wife threw shoes at him.
