Light up:Gwen Stefani announces new album ‘Bouquet’, shares breakup anthem ‘Somebody Else’s’
Gwen Stefani has announced the release date of her upcoming fifth album “Bouquet” as November 15 and shared the lead single, “Somebody Else’s,” which showcases her newfound country-influenced sound, per nme.com.
“Somebody Else’s” is an upbeat breakup anthem that finds Stefani singing over a distinctly western-tinged beat, “You’re somebody else’s and it doesn’t even break my heart.” This marks a major stylistic shift for the 54-year-old, who first rose to fame in the 1990s as the voice of the iconic pop/rock band.
Stefani’s country crossover comes amid a broader trend of pop artistes exploring the genre. Earlier this year, Beyoncé released the country-infused Cowboy Carter, while Post Malone fully immersed himself in the sound for his album F-1 Trillion. Even Lana Del Rey revealed her upcoming “Lasso” LP would have a country influence.
For Stefani, the pivot may be influenced by her marriage to country star Blake Shelton, who is set to feature on the album’s closing track, “Purple Irises.” Fans can pre-order or pre-save “Bouquet” ahead of its November release, which will also include songs like “Bouquet,” “Pretty,” and “Late To Bloom.”
