Mahomes spent nearly $20,000 per golf cart and may have stolen the idea

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gifted each of his offensive linemen a custom golf cart for Christmas and now other QBs around the NFL surely feel pressure to do the same, but not every player can spend that much money.

Mahomes, 28, reportedly spent nearly $20,000 per golf cart. He may have stolen the idea from Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, who also bought a fleet of carts for his offensive linemen a couple days prior.

Quarterbacks gifting the O-line extravagant things is nothing new, but the presents keep getting bigger and more expensive each year.

Mahomes, an avid golfer, continued his golf theme this holiday season. During the 2022 holiday season, the two-time Super Bowl champion gifted his offensive linemen with golf bags that included a new set of clubs.

Now, when Kansas City’s linemen aren’t busy protecting Mahomes on the field, they can go to the golf course and ride around to each hole in style.

The Chiefs’ quarterback purchased custom golf carts for his entire offensive line, and the big boys up front didn’t shy away from taking their new toys for a spin around Arrowhead Stadium on Wednesday.

The carts feature a red framework with black accents and each player’s last name and jersey number embellished on the side in white. Harold Kuntz of WDAF-TV in Kansas City tweeted video screenshots on X (formerly known as Twitter) from Chiefs center Creed Humphrey and left tackle Donovan Smith showing their appreciation to the two-time NFL MVP for the gift.

With three weeks remaining in the regular season, Mahomes will seek to finish the year strong on the field. The Chiefs (9–5) are coming off a 27–17 victory against the Patriots in Week 15 and will play host to the Raiders (6–8) on Christmas at 1 p.m. ET.

Anyone who was near the Truman Sports Complex this week may have seen an unusual site.

There were golf carts zooming around the expansive parking lot. The drivers: Chiefs offensive linemen.

and tackle Donovan Smith shared photos on their Instagram stories of the golf carts, which were Christmas gifts from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Smith wrote: “Appreciate you! King” and tagged Mahomes. Humphrey also tagged Mahomes in his post.

Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay apparently was taken for a ride in the golf cart and shared a video on Instagram.

X user Lexi Osborne shared that video of the golf carts being driven around the Truman Sports Complex. The Chiefs players looked like they were having a lot of fun, thanks to the gifts from Mahomes.
