Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a clear vision for his post-playing career: owning an NFL team.
Despite being at the pinnacle of his football career with seven years of professional experience, Mahomes is already planning his future, expressing his desire to acquire an NFL franchise.
“As I look at it, once I get to that, I can really settle down. But they make it quite challenging for you to reach that spot,” said the Texas Tech graduate during an interview with local media. He mentioned that fellow player Tom Brady is already attempting to become a team owner.
“That’s definitely the direction you want to go because I love this game, and I want to give back in any way possible when I’m done playing,”Mahomes added.
While he affirmed that he would remain a Chiefs fan for life, he also expressed a desire to maintain the competitive edge that has been a constant throughout his entire life.

Mahomes ventures into Formula One
Earlier this week, Mahomes, along with his teammate Travis Kelce, became part of a group of athletes who invested 200 million euros in the Alpine Formula One team.
Other notable members of the group include golfer Rory McIlroy, boxer Anthony Joshua, footballers Trent Alexander-Arnold and Juan Mata, and Roger Ehrenberg, founder of the Eberg Capital group.
This investment was made through their association with the Otro Capital group. In June, Renault Group sold its 24% stake in Alpine Formula One, and it was acquired by Otro Capital, RedBird Capital, Maximum Efforts Investments, and actor Ryan Reynolds.

Beyond Alpine Formula One, Mahomes is a minority owner of the Major League Baseball team, the Kansas City Royals. His fiancée, Brittany Matthews, is a co-owner of the Kansas City Current in the NSWL.
Regarding car racing, the quarterback mentioned that he has attended a couple of Formula One events, appreciating the environment. He also noted, “Obviously, watching ‘Drive to Survive’ on Netflix, you see how competitive it is.”
