BREAKING: NFL Preseason Week 3 — Kansas City Chiefs vs Chicago Bears Game Urgently Postponed
Fans heading to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday night were left stunned as officials suddenly announced that the highly anticipated Kansas City Chiefs vs Chicago Bears preseason showdown had been postponed indefinitely.
According to league representatives, the decision came just hours before kickoff after a major power outage swept through parts of Kansas City, including the stadium district. Emergency crews rushed to restore electricity, but with safety systems and lighting still offline, the NFL determined it was impossible to proceed with the game.
Crowds had already begun gathering around Arrowhead when the news broke. “We were so ready to see Mahomes and Kelce get some snaps before the season starts,” said one disappointed fan. “But safety has to come first.”
Both teams are reportedly working with the NFL to determine if the game will be rescheduled or canceled entirely, given the tight preseason calendar. Chiefs coach Andy Reid expressed frustration but also relief that no fans or players were in danger. “We’ll roll with it and get back to work,” Reid said.
The Bears, who traveled in for the matchup, were seen boarding buses back to their hotel as league officials met behind closed doors.
For now, Kansas City fans will have to wait a little longer for their final preseason glimpse of the defending champions before Week 1 of the regular season kicks off.
