11 Inmates Escape New Orleans Prison Through Hole Under Toilet, Leave Mocking Message: “Too Easy, LOL”

In a brazen and highly embarrassing security breach, 11 inmates at the Orleans Parish jail have escaped through a hole they reportedly dug beneath a toilet. The daring breakout has left law enforcement scrambling for answers—and for the escapees—after discovering the group left behind a mocking message: “Too easy, LOL.”
According to early reports, the inmates spent days, possibly weeks, carefully removing the bolts securing a toilet fixture to the wall of their holding area. Behind it, they discovered a maintenance void that led to a weakened section of the facility’s infrastructure. From there, they were able to access an old maintenance tunnel and eventually find a path out of the building.
What shocked jail officials wasn’t just the method of escape, but the audacity of the message left behind, scrawled in marker on a wall near the exit point: “Too easy, LOL.” The mocking tone has drawn sharp criticism and raised serious questions about the facility’s oversight, staffing, and security protocols.
Authorities are now conducting a manhunt to locate the 11 escapees. Surveillance footage is being reviewed, and checkpoints have been established around the area. As of now, no injuries have been reported, and jail officials insist the escapees are not classified as high-risk violent offenders—though that’s little comfort to a public increasingly frustrated by gaps in the justice system.
An internal investigation has also been launched to determine how such a glaring lapse in infrastructure went unnoticed, and whether any staff members may have been negligent or complicit.
As the search intensifies, the escape stands as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that exist even in supposedly secure institutions—and of how quickly things can go from controlled to chaotic.
