Swifies are flocking to social media in outrage after a TikToker who went to high school with Taylor Swift said 'most people hated her'.

Considering Taylor Swift writes songs which don’t shine an all-too positive light on those she’s had past romantic relationships with, it’s not a massive surprise some people may’ve found an issue with the musician.

But ultimately, Swift had the last laugh and shook off the high school haters in the best possible way. If you weren’t a Swiftie already, prepare for this story to change your mind:

Jessica McLane says she grew up in the same town as and went to Hendersonville High School in North Carolina with the ‘Blank Space’ singer, but she admits in ‘a blanket apology’ she doesn’t know ‘much’ about Swift.

She says: “I was a church kid, I didn’t really listen to Taylor Swift, I kinda just got into Taylor Swift so give me some grace.

“So in 2006, I’m a freshman in high school, Taylor is, I think, a junior. ‘Teardrops on my guitar’ had just come out I think over the summer. Obviously she got really big and that’s the year that she left school, she was homeschooled in 2006.”

But before the musician left and became a superstar, what did her school mates think of her?

Well, according to McLane, Swift was mostly ‘hated’ by other students when she ‘first started becoming super successful’.

The TikToker continues: “Keep in mind, these are her peers, you know, this isn’t like just random people on the internet. She’s literally like what 16, 17, leaving high school to pursue a career that people are telling her that she could never have.

“Also, the guys she was writing these songs about, they were still in school. And now they have a hit song about them, talking about what a s****y boyfriend they are, you know?”

When you put it that way, it’s easy to see why Swift may’ve not been the most popular girl in school at the time.

Addressing there being ‘a lot of rumors’ about how Swift started her career, McLane reflects she doesn’t really know, but there ‘were not a lot of people in high school who had nice things to say about her’.

Despite what some people had to say, McLane notes her entire senior class got invited by Swift to the CMA Awards in 2009. But the TikToker then goes on to resolve this was simply a part of Swift being a ‘petty b***h’.

And unsurprisingly, Swifties are now flooding to the post to weigh in on the matter.

One TikToker wrote: “Sagittarius energy. We forgive but WE NEVER FORGET.”

“That’s incredible respect for Taylor Swift,” another said.

And a third commented: “Taylor has the last laugh!”
