Taylor Swift’ says feud with kanye west and Kim Kardashian felts like ‘career death’: ‘I went down really really hard’
The pop star opened up on the impact of the feud on her life and career
In the revealing interview with TIME Magazine that hit social media on Wednesday, Taylor Swift, named Person of the Year, candidly shared the profound impact of her feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on her life and career.
The interview covered a range of topics, but Swift didn’t hold back when discussing the infamous leaked phone call that led to her being “canceled” and taking a hiatus from the spotlight
Swift: I moved to a foreign country
Swift expressed the depth of the psychological toll, stating, “Make no mistake – my career was taken away from me.”
She highlighted the manipulated nature of the leaked call, describing it as a “fully manufactured frame job” that left her in a vulnerable state.
The singer disclosed, “I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”
The feud traces back to 2016 when Kanye West released the song “Famous,” containing controversial lyrics about Swift.
The subsequent release of edited phone call clips by Kim Kardashian fueled public opinion against Swift, causing her to retreat from public life until her comeback in 2017 with the album Reputation.
Taylor Swift feels vindicated
Fast forward to 2023, and Taylor Swift has reclaimed her throne at the pinnacle of popularity.
The emergence of unedited footage from the phone call in 2020 vindicated Swift, shifting public perception.
Notably, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West split in 2021.
Swift, who is rumored to be on the verge of releasing Reputation ‘Taylor’s Version’ shortly (the album that followed the mentioned feud), describes the project as a “goth-punk moment of female rage at being gaslit by an entire social structure.”
The singer also teased the highly anticipated vault tracks from the 2017 album calling them “fire”.
As the first entertainer to receive TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year title and with numerous other accolades in 2023, including Billboard’s Top Artist of 2023 and Forbes’ fifth-most powerful woman in the world, Taylor Swift stands tall looking into the future, having overcome the adversities sparked by the infamous feud.
